Item 3) Approve Minutes:


A)    Minutes For Regular Meeting of August 17, 2009

Mike Gravelle discussed the disposal of old turnouts; will be donating to Yuba College

Capt Wendy Stuller discussed the cost for the thread; a larger thread was needed for the new Honda pump on the water tender along with suction hose, camel lock and hose fitting.

Item 4) Accounting:


A)    Warrants: Chairperson Stipp inquired about the tire replacement.  Capt. Wendye Stuller explained that CalFire replaced two of the tires and the other two replaced by the district.


B)    Financials: The District has $61,750 going into reserves and Deborah Brooks needs to know which reserve account to put the money in.  Capt. Wendye Stuller and Mike Gravelle suggested using some of the reserve money for a utility pickup. Board decided to place money into Account 1005- Tender Replacement.

Item 5) Chief’s Report-Captain Stuller

Capt. Stuller reported that the station has a brand new engine from CalFire.  The Yuba Fire consumed 3500+ acres and Capt. Steve Robinson and crew were first on the scene along with the Dobbins crew.  Water Tender 62 has had some battery related problems and should be back on the road shortly.


Item 6) Volunteer Firefighters Report- Mike Gravelle

Mike Gravelle reported that the turnouts have been purchased for the new volunteers and that they are having the older turnouts that are still usable repaired.


Item 7) General Manager’s Report –Sue Cerf

General Manager reported that a nameplate and business cards for Chairperson Biggs have been ordered.  It was also reported that a new calculator and other office supplies would need to be purchased.


Item 8) Newsletter

A)    The fall newsletter was reviewed by the Board and the following changes were suggested: director title to be aligned with other titles of position; change Hallwood and Marysville District to say just Hallwood District 10 and change proposed to planned on page 2.

B)    Motion to approve mailing of newsletter with changes:  Barajas  Second: Stipp

Item 9) Purchasing Guidelines

A)      The board agreed to make changes to the Administrative Manual section 3121 & 3122 as follows: Make purchase order required for amounts in excess of $1000.

Item 10) Hallwood Station Curt Williges

A)    Cordua Water District is ready to move ahead with planned station.  The Districts are required to provide a hold harmless clause and proof of insurance.  LRBV District will be responsible for fuel and maintenance on Engine 61 and Hallwood District 10 will pay for facility maintenance and costs (electricity, heat and air.)  It was agreed upon to call the new station Kibbe Road Station. General Manager Cerf will contact districts attorney about hold harmless clause.

B)    Motion to enter into agreement with Hallwood District 10 for Kibbe Road Station: Kattuah  Second: Barajas

Item 11) Station 63

A)    Set date for interviews-Board agreed to interview firms for the new station on Saturday October 17, 2009 starting at 9 am.

B)    Vice Chairperson will contact Richard Alvarado to set up interviews and request a list of questions for interview.


Item 12) Correspondence: Solar Industry personnel have agreed to come and talk with fire personnel about solar panels on roofs.
